In Chapter 1 on the Power of Principles, Mona Ali Khalil assesses the UN’s report card on how well it fulfils the vision and promise of the UN Charter in the first quarter of the 21st century.


UN Security Council Conflict Management Handbook, Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (2023)

The handbook was co-edited by Haidi Willmot and Scott Sheeran and co-authored by Adriana Abdenur, Renata Dwan, Richard Gowan, Ian Johnstone, Colin Keating, Mona Ali Khalil and Paul Williams.


The Future of Diplomacy After COVID-19 Pandemic, Routledge (2021)

The book was co-authored by Hana Alhashimi, Andres Fiallo, Toni-Shae Freckleton, Mona Ali Khalil, Vahd Mulachela and Jonathan Viera on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on multilateralism. 


Immunity Is  Not Impunity: UN Accountability for the Haiti Cholera Crisis, Brill (2021)

In  this chapter of the Journal of International Peacekeeping, Mona Ali Khalil confirms that accountability is, in fact, required by the applicable legal instruments and established practice of the United Nations


Reforming the UN Security Council, UNA-UK (2020)

In the report, Mona Ali Khalil makes a number of recommendations for upholding the responsibility of the UN Security Council and its permanent members without amending the UN Charter.


Protection of Civilians, Oxford University Press (2016)

In Chapter 9 on the  Legal Aspects of the Use of Force by UN Peacekeepers,  Mona Ali Khalil discusses the underlying causes for the UN peacekeepers' failure to protect civilians.
